With the Create Outline tool, you can create a custom shape that matches the outline of your selected artwork. You can use this outline to cut out your designs, create framing effects, engrave a silhouette, create a continuous text effect, and much more!

Using Create Outline

1. Go to Glowforge Print (app.glowforge.com), and sign in.
   
   
2. Open the design you want to use, or create a blank design and add some artwork or text in the Design Workspace.
   
   
   
   
3. Using the Select tool, click on the artwork you want to Outline. You can select multiple by holding down the Shift button while you click, or holding the mouse button while dragging the selection box.
   
   
4. When your artwork is selected, the Tools menu will appear on the right-hand side. Click the Create Outline icon - this looks like a mountain with an outline around it.
   
   
   
   
5. Click the “+ Create New Outline” button.
   
   
   
   A new outline will be generated. This may take a few seconds.
   
   
6. Once the outline is generated, you can adjust it using the slider in the Create Outline menu. Drag the slider to the left for a closer outline, or to the right for a larger outline. The closer the outline, the more detail of the design's edges it will retain.
   
   
7. You've got an outline! The outline is its own piece of artwork - you can Group it with the original design in order to move them together, or use the outline on its own as a silhouette or cut-out.
