You’re just a few steps away from being able to print magical things with your new Glowforge! First, you’ll need to connect your printer to Wi-Fi. The process is a little different than just connecting your phone or computer to Wi-Fi, and this article explains the details.

If you’ve already connected your Glowforge to Wi-Fi, but then lost your connection, this article can be a good reminder for how to reconnect.

To make it easy, we’ve created set-up prompts that walk you step-by-step through the process.

Connecting your Glowforge to Wi-Fi is a two-step process. First, you’ll connect your Glowforge to your computer (or other Internet-connected device) via a temporary network. Then, you’ll connect your Glowforge to your Wi-Fi network. After that, you’re ready to print!

Note: Glowforge supports networks using 2.4GHz b/g/n and WPA2, WPA, WEP, or open security.

To connect your Glowforge to Wi-Fi, go to setup.glowforge.com, and then follow the on-screen instructions. It will walk you through the following process.

Connect Your Glowforge to Wi-Fi

  1. Go to setup.glowforge.com.
  2. Make sure you're signed in.
    • If you already have a Glowforge account and are prompted, sign in.
    • If you don't yet have a Glowforge account, click CREATE ACCOUNT, and then come back.
  3. Choose the type of printer you would like to set up.

  4. You’ll see the Unboxing Your Glowforge page. If you've already unboxed and set up your Glowforge, you can click through to continue to the Wi-Fi Setup step. This will open the Connect Your Glowforge to Wi-Fi page.

    NOTES:

    • If you're using Chrome version 101 or later, you may be prompted to download and run an app to complete Wi-Fi setup.

    • If you are using a phone or other device that can access the internet through a cellular network, before continuing, put it in airplane mode (otherwise, it will use the cellular network, and won’t communicate with your Glowforge in the next step).
    • Don’t navigate from the page or change your Wi-Fi settings during this process. If you leave the setup pages before you’ve completed the process, you will have to start over.

  5. Make sure your Glowforge is on, and the button is glowing a teal color. If it isn’t, then press and hold the button at least ten seconds, until it glows teal. Then on the setup page, click Continue.

  6. On the page, you will see that your Glowforge is now broadcasting a temporary Wi-Fi access point. On your computer or device, go to your Wi-Fi settings and select the Glowforge access point.

You’ll be disconnected from the Internet for a moment until you finish the rest of the setup process.

  7. Once you see the message that your computer or device is connected to your Glowforge, in the list in your browser, select the Wi-Fi network that you want to use. If prompted, enter the password for your network.

    NOTES:
    • Be sure to select your Wi-Fi network from the list that appears in your browser, rather than going to your computer’s network settings.
    • If you don’t see your network and the Glowforge in the Wi-Fi list after a few moments, click REFRESH LIST.
